Here's where "Ace" came from

Ok - enough already, I have been asked too many times where my nickname "Ace" came from. Several of you have said it has no relation to Anthony and I don't play cards and I don't shoot down airplaines. So here it is....drum roll please.....

In my younger, dumber days, I was into a gel in the hair - spike it up in the middle of my head stage. (That is not a picture of me by the way - hopefully all pictures of those days have been deleted, burned or otherwise destroyed. Anyway my Father is ultra-conservative, only white shirts and stripped ties at the office kind of guy, well he hated my hair an said that the spike in the middle made my head look like the Ace of Spades, and to try to embarrass me into a more conventional hair style he began calling me "Ace" well my friends who would come over to hang out thought it was cool for me to be called "Ace" and then it spread to school and beyond, so I go by Ace or Anthony or your royal-highness or anything else you may want to hang on me but that is the story of "Ace"

until next time... Ace

Pastor's the man

I want to recommend to you my online pastor. My current health status prevents me from going to church which has always been part of my life. My immigrant parents made sure of that when I was a child and a it has remained a spiritual practice I still hold as valuable in my life. I was introduced to Pastor Jesse Waggoner via a friend who works in radio production and I first heard him on the radio - his church puts their service (the whole thing) on the air every week. I grabbed his picture above from his website (Hope you don"t mind pastor J).

From the radio show I was pointed to the website called the Bible Center Network, where Pastor's teaching is online. You can watch video or subscribe to the video podcaste - which allows me to watch the sermons on my iPhone. Pastor Waggoner also has a website of his own called WaggonerMedia.com here you can also get his blog, pictures, things he writes and sermons also. If you are searching for a great pastor, then search no more - you will get good Bible teaching, good humor and a man who can really communicate. He really does preaching different, he doesn't get all pastoral preachy, it is more like a normal conversation. Even though I don't enjoy the ministry live, I feel a real human connection, not all preachers seem to know how to do that.

He also does a daily question that I sometimes answer on Facebook called www.OneDailyQuestion.com, he also does a video from his car where he drives and teaches the Bible at the same time, which is a little weird but hey I do some weird stuff while I am driving. Here are Pastor Jesse's links - look him up and you will be blessed.

Laura Harris is out of this world

I loved her in 24, she was great in Dead Like Me but she would be reason enough to watch ABC's new space opera, Defying Gravity.

The ABC website says..."Laura Harris is Zoe Barnes in "Defying Gravity," a one-hour drama about a team of astronauts on a six-year mission in outer space. Deeply committed to her first space journey as the ship's geologist, the lovely Zoe also has prophetic visions linked to a secret from her past."

I saw she is beautiful, talented and I for one will follower her to Venus, Mars... or wherever!

A Smile and Swine Flu

I saw this picture of a man in Mexico City, I thought what a way to express ones defiance in the face of possible disaster. Maybe if a few more of us would put on a smile and keep going we would all be the better for it. Swine flu be damned - I am going to live life and enjoy it!

Thanks Jose!

Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson - Dumb!

This time maybe I am dumb! But for the love of logic would someone explain to me what someone as beautiful and talented as Evan Rachel Wood would see in a freak show like Marilyn Manson? It was reported in the current issue of GQ that she and the great goth one are back together after a few months separation. She has some brains, did you catch her in The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke (another freak show)? So what is it? I am thinking maybe I should invest in some eye-liner, what do you think?

Dumb stuff for kids

Question, how did the race of humankind survive this long. I have not spent too many years on the planet but somehow I learned to crawl without protective gear or learned to walk without having strings attached like a marionette! One website offers a wealth of these types of products (www.onestepahead.com) and a quick look thru amazes the visitor that any child can make it to adulthood without someone spending a small fortune fitting the rug-rats with all kinds of gear. The knee pads for kids spares the child the trama of crawling or the Walking Wings offer a safer way for a child to learn to walk and as a bonus it is easier on the care givers back! Perhaps survival of the fittest has been replace by survival of the softest

This Dumb thing is going to save GM?

Would you rather drive around in this and see heads turn as you roar by with a hot babe by your side...

...Or go tooling through the asphalt jungle in this dumb thing?

This is the the Puma made by Segway and General Motors, it is a two seat, electric powered, green, really innovative dumb idea! With the whole company on the verge of going over the cliff the minds of GM come up with this! Give us more muscle cars folks, no unattached female worth a second look is ever going to moan as this high tech rickshaw goes squeaking by!

If you want to save this company and this country give us what we want ... more horse power and less lame save-the-environment gizmos. Maybe the PUMA was the reason Pres. Obama showed GM CEO, Rick Wagoner the door
